rekids regular markus suckut drops his third album entitled heaven is a state of mind this september. when not helming his own imprints, sckt and pattern research, the dusseldorf artist has been releasing on rekids since 2015 and is now a core member of the labels family. earlier this year saw the arrival of new life ep, a mesmerising release exemplary of the producer�s knack for making imaginative house and techno complete with a compelling groove. no stranger to the long player format having released two albums previously, markus suckut returns to radio slaves label with a quality nine-track album. from the word go suckuts album demonstrates his versatility as a musician, initiating with a beatless intro named escape, before breeze comes into play with its skipping percussion and loopy atmospherics. crunchy snares and crystalline synths make up suns out whilst future is not always bright drives forward with its sultry low-end, ethereal pads and sci-fi bleeps, leading into take a break and its medley of elaborate drums, living up to its name. above the clouds is comprised of intricate notes and soothing chords whilst the machinelike orchid features electro inspired melodies, contrasting to the albums title track, heaven is a state of mind, with its bumpy bass and warping textures. wonderland (version) is a ghostly acid cut which suitably closes the album

skinny pelembe corrals together a cast of talented friends for his new ep. it�s his most ambitious release to date, boasting a different group or artist featuring on each of its tracks, each of them an act he�s met through music or through linking with brownswood�s celebrated talent development programme future bubblers two years ago. across its four entries, he bridges hip-hop, psych-rock and jazz-influenced tangents, cutting out a diverse cross-section of the city�s music scene. it�s a document of the connections he�s made as an artist, and is the most collaborative project he�s worked on so far. the title of the ep comes from some advice which skinny noted to himself on an old notebook. each of its songs started as a rough idea which was then fleshed out and re-imagined with his collaborators.

it s time again for us to welcome another first timer to the second state roster: rocko garoni. having been label manager of sisyphon, in-house imprint of the acclaimed sisyphos club in berlin, garoni is no stranger to curating high quality records, and this time he gets to be curator of his own stunning detection ep. jumping in head first, detection , mischievous number that is equal parts vicious and cunning as it is sensual and inviting. provocative female whispers float over a beat sure to slay any crowd, any time. switching gears, garoni heads into houser territories on phaseful , where glimmers of classic house artifacts are scattered like flickering shimmers over an energetic drum illustration. coming up next is tragedy . it s low slung drums, vast spanning bass and sinister vocal declarations make it an ideal ambassador for the dark mysterious nights. wrapping up the ep is a huge rework of detection by regal, who churns out a burner by cranking up the tempo and tension with crisp drums and an undeniable classic rave leads sure to make the forefathers of techno proud. if it keeps up like this, we expect much more big things in the future from rocko garoni!

tommy rawson releases are sporadic but always high quality. as a former member of the souled duo who ran the excellent fresh minute label hes been around the more tropical end of uk house and broken beat for many years and this, his first full release for bergerac ushers forth a new level in his sound. this whole record is a masterclass in post bruk, forward thinking, shining, bright uk dance music. unmatched in emotion and vibes. deep blue is quite simply the sound of the summer. sun drenched, euphoric and soaring. broken but not broken, 4/4 but not quite housey. jazzy, soulful yeah. it was the highlight of red rack ems olive grove closing set at love international last year when it provided the most halcyon of moments. live trumpet from vicky flint and a whole bag of vibes from tommy rawson. this is a classic. trust. past tense is a super tropical african tinged house stomper which shows tommys love of sunshine vibes once more with acres of space, insistent chants, dubby pianos and a tinge of jungle roller bass. the final track into the future takes us into almost blade runner-esque orchestral emotion but with a kind of balearic feel tucked in there too. beautiful, lilting, emotional memories. you can feel so much love in this track. such a special record. buy it. love it. treasure it.

following hivers excellent ep, let recordings again welcomes american dj and producer jon hester to their imprint. currently based in berlin but with previous spells in chicago and minneapolis, he returns to the label for a second ep following 2017s communication ep, and other outings on the likes of rekids and dystopian. his adventurous drum programming and high speed techno style kicks things off with radiance, a manically melodic track that takes you on an energetic trip. impermanence is a deeper, more cinematic piece that features rueful pads but still a driving drum line, then stratospheric has huge, hammering kick drums and squelchy synth sounds as well as dancing keys that bring warmth, groove, and soul. last of all, this high class excursion is completed with horizon, delivering barreling drum patterns and edgy pads that trap you in suspense as it races on. all four tracks deliver a high impact techno sound that very much looks to the future.

noamm is the electronic equivalent of a honed switchblade. with surgical precision the bass agenda alumnus incises keys, cuts chords, pierces percussion and razors through rhythms. it is this slicing sound that the greek artist brings to his debut 12 for shipwrec. seven tracks of machined melodies and frigid fire make up psychoanalysis. the ep is brimming with calculated fury and clinical rage. from the coursing cruelty of ruhestimmung and the menacing dance macabre to the future world coldness of das schwarze korps, noamm is direct and straight to the point with his hard hitting style and no-nonsense approach. few respites are to be found on this 12, into the abyss of changing subconsious being the only refuge from the arctic winds and audio blasts that scour this record. frosted ferocity from start to finish from this exciting musician.

it doesn t get much bigger than this: adam beyer links up with green velvet and drumcode s outstanding rising star layton giordani for a debut collaboration. some musical partnerships feel fated. both fans of one another s work, for years adam beyer and green velvet had discussed writing music together. in turn, beyer s protégé layton giordani had admired the chicagoan s work for as long as he could remember. when the 25-year-old found himself playing alongside the green mohawked legend at belfast s shine, the spark and subsequent friendship was immediate. with the links now set in place, it was only a matter of time before the trio s creative chemistry would manifest musically. �space date was conceived organically and birthed quickly. propelled by green velvet s trademark vocal hypnotism, the triumvirate combine to craft a pumping intergalactic slice of techno laced in melody that s highlighted sets by beyer at awakenings, ushuaia and also edc vegas when green velvet dropped it to a raucous response. the track is complimented by rome future , the product of a year-long series of productions between beyer and giordani. deftly combining crisp drum work, catchy vocal effects and a powerful bassline melody that gives the track an almighty kick, it will be familiar to many who ve followed their sets over recent months.

a band called flash�s third ep on the j4j record label continues to expand with a new group of future funk goodies. with the highly anticipated release of the hypnotic dance track �dracula� along with the funky vocals �there will be a time� and �vsl�, artist, songwriter and producer jared hines doesn�t disappoint. add to that, the intergalactic groove �song for spike� and you have an ep that will surely satisfy listeners and dancers alike.

you may remember the closing of space, ibiza with carl cox when he played a bootleg of total confusion. barry obzee hobbs (rising high a&r) spent a lot of time trying to locate the remixer and finally did a few months ago. we have now signed the remix which will be released on vinyl in may and on digital in july. the story goes like this: carl cox has been playing the version at most of his shows including tomorrow land, kappa future fest and timewarp ( see video clip below) but this is where the story becomes more interesting. the remixer, rod malmok from rotterdam aka benny rodriguez, who is a very established dj producer playing for loco dice in ibiza etc and releasing on ben klock s imprint klockwork, chris liebings imprint clr, adam beyers imprint drumcode and many more was inspired to remix the track through a conversation with dubfire, rod gave him a rough copy the following day. he played it to carl cox at space, ibiza and cox begged him for a copy - see video below if you ve been around the scene for a while you will know that rising high records was one of the first labels to shape techno, hardcore and breakbeat in the uk and was huge!

tachyon audio is a vinyl label that�s focused on sounds in the techno realm targeting sweaty, dark dance floors, with large, high-quality sound systems. inhabitants come back strong in mutations volume ii, tachyon audio�s second offering. these two primates are often found inhabiting dark spaces, forging ahead on complex math equations. their distinct, driving, mathematical, and drumming techno is a result. expect more solid work and performances from these two mysterious beings on tachyon audio as the label continues its progression. tachyon audio�s second release follows a similar format to the first, in that, tac002 is a diverse ep that touches on techno sounds that are helping to lead the march forward into the future of sound production and style. the second tachyon audio release also comes from the mysterious dark studio of inhabitants, who build off their first, and display their precise, technical forms of production. the a-side track, mut11 (a1) is a sci-fi exploration that pleases the ear with thick sub and low basses, along with a pitch-twisted melodic element, and the inhabitants distinct sound effects and automation. the track has a strong impact immediately, as you can feel the intensity of elements being added, manipulated, and combined, and a sturdy, grimy feel pervades the piece with an interesting driving rhythmic percussion.

�all the same dream� is the third album from kyo, the enigmatic product of hannes norrvide and frederik valentin�s compact. for this record they have collaborated with american vocalist jeuru, a recent recruit into the city of copenhagen. pressing on white vinyl.

serendipity - defined as making discoveries or happy accidents - is the debut ep by liam van ryn. its a fitting description for the richly textured and cinematic four track collection that was the result of intensive and prolonged sessions goofing around on analogue gear. strictly limited 12 pressing this is a hell of a debut - one to watch for the future! the title track is the most immediately wonderful cut here, with choked arpeggios, clouds of caustic static and found scrapes as percussion. dj mag (8/10 ep review) early support from: nathan fake - interesting lush sounds lanark artefax - sounds great and is really coherent for a debut ep tessela - this is wicked man, really like that pitch1! based in hull, van ryn makes richly textured and layered, cinematic music that is both experimental and (mostly) electronic. i was interested in the way i could make the music sound slightly unnatural, or like it couldnt be played by a real musician, even though that was often the starting point, he explains. box.

shortly before the turn of the year 2017/18, my friend jan müller wrote me an e-mail: »dear martin, i ll send you the new album of my band �dirty dishes� now. the album is titled �kabinett von papen�. it is a concept album, which has the third-last government cabinet of the weimar republic as a subject. so, please tell me how you see it � whatever your verdict, i ll use it as an incentive to put my mind and body in the service of global pop culture even more so in the future«.
